Munchmark is a calorie and nutrition tracker that keeps your log on your own phone. There is no account, no advertising and no selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
What stays on your phone
- Everything you log: foods, meals, recipes, pantry, water, weights, body stats, sports check-ins, settings and small photo thumbnails.
- It's stored in your browser's storage on this device. We can't see it. Backups are files you export and keep yourself.
- A Munchmark Plus license key or your own Gemini key, if you enter one, stays on this phone and is never put in backups.
What leaves your phone, and why
- Food lookups. Words you search, words read from a label and barcode numbers are sent to Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central to find nutrition. Photos are not sent to them.
- The on-device recognizer. If you download it, its model files come from Hugging Face. Your photos are then analyzed on the phone and not uploaded.
- Free plan: nothing else. On the free plan, food recognition runs on your phone. Photos never leave it.
- Gemini AI (Munchmark Plus only). If you choose Gemini and activate Plus, the photo, your details, menu photos or the typed food you ask about are sent through our server on Cloudflare to the Google Gemini API, and the answer comes back to your phone. Our server checks your license key with Lemon Squeezy and doesn't keep photos or text. Cloudflare may keep standard request logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time.
- Plus requests use Google's paid tier, where Google doesn't use them to improve its products.
- If you add your own Gemini key instead (Settings → Advanced), requests go straight from your phone to Google under your own Google account's terms. On Google's free tier, Google may use them to improve its products, and people may review them.
- Payments (Munchmark Plus). Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy or Google Play. We receive your name, email, license key and whether your subscription is active, never your card details. The app sends the license key to our server with each Gemini request so the server can check it.
- Visit counts. If enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you.
Health information
Body stats, weights and what you eat can be sensitive. They stay on your phone. The only health-related content that ever leaves it is what you choose to send to Gemini on Plus, after you agree.
Age
Munchmark isn't meant for children under 13. Munchmark Plus and its Gemini features are only for people 18 or older, as Google's terms require; younger people can use the free plan, which runs on the phone.
Where you live
If Gemini isn't available in your country, Plus can't be used there, but the free plan works everywhere.
Deleting your data
Delete the app from your home screen and clear this site's data in your browser settings. That removes everything, because nothing is stored on our servers. To delete your purchase record, email us.
Changes
